Abs Diet Review
"The Abs Diet" by Men's Health magazine editor David Zinczenko is a weight loss and fitness plan that offers practical suggestions for eating and exercise. The main goal of the "Abs Diet" plan is to help you build more muscle by eating the right foods and exercising so that your body burns fat faster. It does so by focusing your food intake around six meals a day consisting of "Power Foods," such as almonds and other nuts, beans, green vegetables, low-fat dairy products, oat cereal, eggs, lean meats, peanut butter, olive oil, wholegrain breads and cereals, extra protein powder and berries. The Abs Diet includes a 20-minute workout three times a week.
The unique aspect of this more-or-less traditional Food Guide Pyramid nutrition and exercise diet is its focus on men and sex as a reasons for weight loss. Sure, a slimmer, fitter body will make you more attractive to the opposite sex and you'll probably enjoy sex more when you're in shape, but all this seems like common sense to me. Whatever motivates you to be sensible and healthy is a good thing. Powdered protein shakes and 6 meals a day is a bit too much of the cosmetic/gym mentality of fitness and weight loss but this is one of the better commercial diets. Realize those who lose weight and keep it off almost always follow the same strategy: balanced nutrition with portion control, daily exercise and especially important, they find a long-term motivation to change their lifestyle. I still prefer gimmick-less, basic nutrition and lifestyle exercise sports such as cycling, running, hiking, climbing, basketball, etc... These activities create passion in your life and make the transition into a new life easier and more enjoyable.
