The Baby Food Diet Review

Created by celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson, The Baby Food Diet was created by celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson. It is the latest popular weight loss fad among celebrities promising to curb cravings through a regimen of pureed carrots, meats, bananas and other foods commonly fed to babies. Mushy, pudding-like baby food served in portion-controlled jars prevents overeating and keeps you satisfied with smaller portions of food, according to advocates of the plan.

The Baby Food Diet does not specify the quantity or type of baby food. The basic plan calls for eating 14 jars of baby food throughout the day, with an option to have a healthy adult meal at dinner. Jars of baby food range from 15 to 100 calories. Most baby food is fortified with nutrients, free of additives and preservatives, and low in fat, sugar, and salt. And there is certainly a lot of flavor choices.

That's about all you can say objectively about the Baby Food Diet. Most everything else you can say is negative:

  • Baby food is created for the nutrient requirements of babies, not overweight adults.
  • Babies and adults have different calorie and nutritional needs.
  • Baby food lacks fiber, calcium, and vitamin D.
  • Not a good long-term strategy. You plan on eating baby food forever?
  • The plan has no exercise recommendations.
  • Ever tried eating "pudding" at every meal, without the pleasure and sensation of chewing?

The Baby Food Diet is simply a gimmick-laden plan to lose some short-term weight. It's no different than any other diet where you'll fall off the wagon really hard and gain all the weight back.
