Beyonce Master Cleanse Diet

The diet used by singer Beyonce Knowles to lose weight for her role in the film "Dream Girls" is a regimen that requires dieters to drink nothing but a mix of lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper while consumming little or no solid food during the dieting phase. She apparently went without solid food for 21 days in a row. She has since stated that she would not recommend the "Master Cleanse" as a weight loss tool and that she gained all the weight back as soon as she stopped the diet.

Commentary: The Beyonce Diet or Master Cleanse is nothing more than a starvation diet. Any diet that dramatically cuts your caloric intake will lead to weight loss. Aggressive weight loss programs generally do not work unless exercise is the main component and the dieter commits long-term to healthy eating and continued rigorous exercise. This scheme may work in the short-term, but what's really the point of losing weight if it's not permanent?
