To that end, meal delivery service food programs such as Bistro MD are extremely effective at helping you lose weight in the short-term. Just eat their calorie/portion-controlled meals, add some exercise and you'll lose weight. It's simple math, calories-in versus calories-out.

Meal delivery services like Bistro MD also take away the confusion over what to eat and what not to eat, as long as you stick to the food they send you. Back when I lost 75 pounds I used a similar strategy with pre-prepared meals, just those from the grocery store.

As far as comparing the various meal delivery services, some are cheaper such as Nutrisystem, but they do not offer fresh food, like the more expensive choices such as Bistro MD. By most accounts, the fresh food meal delivery tastes better.

But, consider the basic reality that when you go from eating high calorie high fat food in much larger portion sizes, as overweight people normally consume, all diet food is going to taste bland by comparison and portion size will seem downright oppressive. Bistro MD states their standard plan has 1200 calories. That's squarely in the range of a starvation diet for most people.

Bistro MD's website is simple and straight-forward. The food is low-fat, focusing on a low glycemic strategy of decreased simple carbohydrates (white sugar, flour) and increased complicated carbs (whole grains, fruits, veggies). You can chose a "Work Week" plan with or without snacks for $130-145 or a "Full Week" plan with or without snacks for $160-180.

There's no uncertainty as to whether you'll lose weight in the short-term on Bistro MD meals. Just eat the food and get some exercise. Just plan on trying to figure out how you'll control yourself after such calorie deprivation is over. Good luck.
