Catabolic Diet Review
The Catabolic Diet is based on the consumption of foods that require more calories to digest than the actual caloric value of the food (Negative Calorie Diet ), thereby burning up stored fat from your own body.
The body uses energy to digest food. A 500 calorie sandwich may require 100 calories to be digested resulting in a net gain of 400 calories. On the other hand, 50 calories of catabolic foods may require 100 calories to digest, resulting in a net loss of 50 calories.
What are some catabolic diet foods:
Apples
Asparagus
Blackberries
Blueberries
Broccoli
Cantaloupe
Carrots
Celery
Cucumbers
Eggplant
Grapefruit
Lemons
Lettuce
Limes
Oranges
Pears
Peppers
Pineapple
Plums
Radishes
Raspberries
Sweet Potatoes
Strawberries
Tomatoes
Watermelon
Zucchini
These are all pretty healthy foods and sure to illicit weight loss if consumed in place of high fat and high calorie foods, but does this sound like a list of foods you'll be able to restrict yourself to in the long-term? The Catabolic Diet makes some good suggestions about general nutrition to add to a balanced diet, but it's far too restrictive to follow in the long-term.
