The "Fast Food Diet" was written by cardiologist and author Dr. Stephen Sinatra. The basic concept is that you can lose weight by only eating the healthiest items on the menu at normally unhealthy fast food restaurants such as MacDonald's, BK, Wendy's and the rest. The plan is entirely targeted at those who are too busy to cook healthy and those who simply enjoy the convenience of the drive-through.
I'm always amazed that "diets" like these come out of the woodwork, especially from those who went to medical school and cardiac residencies. I guess being a cardiologist just isn't enough for some people.
There is a lot of good advice in this book, and all these guide books to healthier restaurant eating (see Eat This Not That) , but they are not comprehensive weight loss books or strategies and should not be taken as such. If you're spending all your eating time in fast food restaurants I can pretty much guarantee you that all that tasty fried food is going to eventually get you. Having the discipline to eat right and make good choices at the grocery store or at home is hard enough. If you really want to lose weight in the long-term you're going to have to find the time to learn to prepare healthy food and exercise daily. Sustainable weight loss is not and never will be convenient.
