Fitness Model Program Review

The "Fitness Model Program" was created by the now-35 year old Jennifer Nicole Lee. A fitness model, personal trainer and author, Lee has built a global weight loss and wellness brand on the back of her own life story. A wife and mother of two, Lee was 70 pounds overweight after the birth of her second child. Frustrated and fed up, she embarked on a self-styled plan to regain control of her health, her looks - her life. Lee is quite candid and forthcoming about her journey from overweight mom to Ms. Bikini USA, sharing both stories and photos of her "before" life to serve as both inspiration and proof that losing weight and getting fit for life can be done.

Her brand is geared towards women like herself - moms, multi-taskers, juggling families and careers - and is a potent mix of toning and fat-burning exercise, sensible nutrition and beautifying tips and tricks for hair, skin, teeth, etc. to make for a total health and self-esteem improvement package. Lee has been interviewed by O herself on the Oprah Winfrey Show (where she employed her young child as the weight resistance for toning and fat burning exercise!), and she's been featured on The CBS Early Morning Show, The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch, Fox & Friends, Inside Edition and the covers of multiple fitness and women's magazines.

One of the hallmarks of Lee's program is convenience - you can do it at home. You're told you need a floor mat, two dumbbells, a stability ball, a bench, and some type of cardio machine/product (a jump rope, elliptical, treadmill, stairclimber, etc.). Her workouts are straightforward: 4 days a week of strength training and 2 days a week of low-impact cardio. Now, it's widely known that the combination of strength training and cardio is the best approach for weight loss - building muscle (which burns fat at rest) and burning fat with cardio simultaneously will have you toned up and slimmed down without a doubt. Note that Lee does not emphasize the fat-burning cardio as the primary element of her workouts, advising that as little as 25 minutes a session is sufficent - as she warns that excessive cardio "eats" away at muscle mass, and will cause you to lose definition and tone. Now while this may be true of a person with Lee's muscle tone and minimal body fat percentage, remember that if you are overweight and just embarking on a shaping up fitness program, you've got body fat to burn, and the quickest way to do it is through cardio. Our view is to follow Lee's longer range advice on the cardio, and give it a full 45 minutes a session until you've reached a goal body fat percentage, at which time the weight training can take precedence and you can reduce your cardio output if you choose.

Lee's is a very folksy, "just us girls", "I've been there, and I'm with you" sympathetic kind of approach, and she does get it right when she discusses the psychology of weight loss struggles. She hits a note when she speaks of how so few of us want to work out, or need to work out - it's always "I have to work out", fraught with dread and unhappiness, worse than going to work. And since we can't blow off work, we're probably going to blow of working out. And she's right when she says that if you feel that way about working out, you'll never be fit for life. She also puts a fine point on it when she speaks of failure rates and quitting being rooted in the all too common "I-Want-It-Right-Now" mindset, whereby if you haven't dropped the weight and look like Lee after about 10 days, you throw in the towel. By her own admission it took Lee 2 1/2 months of working out regularly before she saw any real results, and once she did, that gratification and pride made her want results all the more. Hang in there, and be assured that a day will come when you will want to work out.

Lee's range of products also includes the "Fabulously Fit Moms" exercise DVD series (where you can use your kids as weights!, as seen on Oprah), variations on the Fitness Model Program called Bikini Model Program and Sexy Body Diet Program, her first book "Crack the Code: Unlock Your Fat Burning and Weight Loss Potential", and her latest book “The Mind, Body, & Soul Diet: Your Complete Transformational Guide to Health, Healing & Happiness”, which is endorsed by author Dr. Joe Vitale of "The Secret" (he also wrote the forward), and Jack Canfield of the "Chicken Soup of the Soul" series.

Bottom line: Lee is a weight loss success story herself, and she's taken the joy, confidence and strength that success provided her and parlayed it into a career to help others succeed to find those same feelings. You don't have to look like Lee and win bikini contests to be fit and feel great about your health and your looks - you just need to get, and stay, after it. Lee's programs are a great way to help you do that. Learn more
