The GenoType Diet Review

By Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo, author of the bestseller "Eat Right 4 Your Type." The "GenoType Diet" is similar to the blood type diet. Foods are still separated into superbeneficial, beneficial, neutral, and avoids. The book includes a test that includes questions about family history and blood type, as well as diagnostics like fingerprint analysis, leg measurements, and dental characteristics in order to discover which of the six genotypes you are. Instead of 4 blood types, he divided us into 6 genotypes.

1. Hunter with Type O blood: Tall, athletic, and with a square jaw. Prone to inflammatory diseases, allergies and rheumatoid arthritis.
2. Gatherer with Type B blood: Emotional temperament and overweight, usually with a high BMI.
3. Teacher with Type A or AB blood: Naturally flexible and enthusiastic. Prone to bacterial infections.
4. Explorer with any blood blood, including Rh Negative: Muscular, adventurous and intelligent. Sensitive to caffeine and medications.
5. Warrior with Tyoe A or AB blood: Charismatic and intense.
6. Nomad with Type B or AB blood: Very tall or short. Quiet, optimistic and calm. Prone to have sensitive digestive systems.

The foods that are recommended and composition of proteins, fats and carbohydrates are dependent on your genotype. A Hunter is recommended a diet that contains lots of red meat while a Gatherer will be recommended mostly vegetarian foods. And so on... Exercise is recommended as to specific type as well. The "Genotype Diet" book costs $24.95 and their is online program as well.

Commentary: Blood type diets are not substanciated by mainstream science. Common sense tells me this hokey breakdown and division of human beings is utter nonsense. You may lose weight on the GenoType Diet but only because it restricts certain foods and decreases caloric intake overall. That's the real magic behind all these fad diets. Those who actually lose weight and keep it off in the long term all pretty much follow the same strategy: balanced nutrition with portion control and daily exercise.
