Herbal Fen-Phen Review

 

Predictably, when pharmaceutical Fen-Phen (a combo of the prescription drugs fenfluramine and phentermine) was pulled from the market due to health dangers, a knock-off quickly became available. And Herbal Fen-Phen was much easier to obtain than Fen-Phen ever was - as a "dietary supplement," you could find it without prescription in drugstores, health-food stores and over the internet.

Early versions of Herbal Fen-Phen were comprised of ephedra (also called ma huang, the metabolic booster in the combo) and Saint-John's-wort (the mood-booster), but a mere two months after the pharmaceutical Fen Phen recall came down, the FDA issued a warning about Herbal Fen Phen, noting that ephedra was linked to serious side effects including high blood pressure, heart attacks, strokes and even death from the condition Primary Pulmonary Hypertension (PPH). In 2004 the FDA banned the sale of dietary supplements containing ephedra. Since the ephedra-containing Herbal Fen-Phen was pulled from the market, the FDA received more than 1,000 reports of side effects which mirrored those of pharmaceutical Fen-Phen - high blood pressure, iirregular heart rate, tremors, seizures, heart attacks, strokes and PPH - which resulted in 150 deaths. Since then, Herbal Fen Phen products have been manufactured from the standard ingredients found in nearly all diet pills - Chromium Picolinate, L-Carnitine, Cayenne, Ginger Root, White Willow Bark, Garcinia, etc. Proceed at your health's risk.
