Lindora Lean for Life Review
The following review was submitted by a past visitor to chasefreedom.com:
Lindora is a chain of diet centers in Southern California. Their 45-day weight loss program is called Lean for Life and is basically a low carbohydrate/high protein regimen, based on similar theories as the Atkins Diet. They also have on online program called Lean for Life Online. The standard cost of the 45-day Lean for Life diet program is $149.00.
The Lean for Life plan has several different phases: The first is an initial rapid weight loss phase called "Prep" (also referred to as "protein days"). It is designed to put you into ketosis, which is a dehydration of your blood supply. By drastically decreasing carbohydrate intake, your body becomes depleted of glycogen, which is where a significant portion of your water comes from. You can have 50 - 100 grams of carbs per day.You are permitted to have 6 servings of protein, 80 oz. of water, salt and you need to take a fiber supplement. This phase lasts for a few days.
The next phase is the "Weight Loss" phase which lasts up to a month. Each week you must do one "prep" day and the rest of the week you do the regular weight loss menu. Each day you check to make sure you are in ketosis. If you are not, you return to the "prep" phase.
The next 14 days you move into a phase called the "Metabolic Adjustment." You add a few additional foods so that your metabolism does not get used to what you are doing during the weight loss phase.
Low carbohydrate regimens are commonly used to induce rapid, short-term water loss through ketosis, but rarely work in the long-term. Most who follow these diets including the Atkins Diet and The Zone fail in the long-term because they are too aggressive with carbohydrate restrictions. Those who do succeed tend to focus on substituting complex carbohydrates (whole grains, vegetables) for simple carbohydrates (sugar, white flour) and substitute polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fat for saturated fat (red meat, fast food, etcetera...)
Lindora's Lean for Life is surprisingly expensive considering their competition. For each additional 45 days it is another $149. The program is confusing, encourages the use of supplements, which they sell, and is not sensible. If one has made up their mind to follow a low carbohydrate regimen, they might want to check out some of the new Atkins and The Zone online programs offered by their competitors.
The best weight loss solution is to focus on a basic food plan, while adding lifestyle exercise activities that are fun and create passion in your life, such as cycling, dancing, hiking, tennis, climbing, etcetera... Such a plan can be aided by one of the inexpensive online programs for structure.
