Personality Type Diet Review

"The Personality Type Diet" by Robert F. Kushner, MD, is a diet and weight loss program that attempts to categorize individuals and give them helpful advice in order to change behaviours and attitudes that lead to being overweight. "The Personality Type Diet" asks readers to answer 66 questions about their habits and attitudes toward eating, exercise, and coping. Based on the scores, a person falls into one or more category types. Dr. Kushner's method points you to the areas where diet and lifestyle change will do you the most good.

Dr. Kushner advocates plant-based foods such as fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds, dried beans, lentils, and soy products. All are low- or moderate-fat foods rich in vitamins and other important nutrients. "The Personality Type Diet" isn't a vegetarian diet, but there's a clearly a focus on vegetarian dishes. Fish and poultry are also on the menu as well as red meat, but the later is not encouraged.

The Personality Type Diet explores practical and common sense methods to deal with bad eating and exercise habits that are associated with your personality type. My underlining problem with all these psychoanlytical diets that attempt to come up with complicated solutions to weight problems is that we all know why we're overweight. We don't eat healthy and we constantly make excuses in order to avoid putting exercise high on our list of priorities. Whether we have one type of personality, childhood emotional trauma or whatever it might be that causes us to live the way we live it does not change the basic fact that most of us simply are not willing to make some tough, comprehensive choices regarding the way we live.
