Spirulina Review
Spirulina is the common name for a dietary supplement made from a blue-green algae, found primarily in Mexico and Central America. It is rich in nutrients, vitamins and minerals, B-complex vitamins, potassium, iron, calcium, magnesium, vitamins C, D and E, and more beta-carotene than carrots. It is sold both as a powder and in capsule form. It is marketed as a natural appetite suppressant, though there is no published research or evidence to support the claim. Spirulina does contain essential nutrients, so it can be an acceptable supplement when used as part of a balanced diet. Taken in large amounts on top of an balanced diet, it could lead to toxic levels of certain nutrients.
Not much of a long-term solution to being overweight.
