You Can Do It! The ponytailed star of many a late-night/Sunday afternoon infomercial on Home Shopping Network and QVC, Tony Little is the self-styled "America's Trainer" who has built a fitness empire from the wreckage of personal tragedy. In 1983 Tony Little was a Junior National Bodybuilding Champion, looking forward to a promising career as a professional bodybuilder. But a near-fatal car accident left him physically and emotionally shattered, his career seemingly finished. Severe depression ensued, and with it a painkiller addiction and 60 pounds of excess weight. But Tony pulled himself out of it - he took control of his life and got himself healthy again with exercise. As a Certified Personal Trainer who had been training to become a professional athlete, Tony knew that a healthy mind goes hand in hand with a healthy body and that he had the skills and experience to help others.
The Gazelle, Tony's signature product, is an ellipitcal-style machine developed for non-impact resistance exercise that will help you lose weight, tone, and strengthen your muscles with minimal joint stress. It looks a little goofy, but it works. Gazelle's are pretty affordable for a home exercise machine - the $200 to $300 range - and come with accompanying workout DVDs.
As noted above, Tony Little has become big business - the product line has expanded to include other machines like an Ab-Lounger and a traditional elliptical, workout DVDs, audio CDs (workout playlists), energy drinks, signature clothing, yearly subscriptions for phone and email access to Tony for questions, guidance and support, electric massage equipment, cookbooks, meal planners, inspirational books and more. Our favorite is the Tony Little bobblehead doll for $14.95.
You can't knock Tony Little, or his goofy infomercial products. The guy's heart is in the right place - he wants us all to be healthier, and his products and his hyper-positive motivational attitude show it.
