"Turbo Jam" by Chalene Johnson is a fitness and weight loss plan that has been made popular through extensive television infomercials and marketing. It is a cardiovascular workout video program that encorporates aerobics, kickboxing, body sculpting, set to popular dance music. The Turbo Jam program isolates each of the body's major muscle groups, including the heart and lungs. In addition, the program focus on basic, low fat nutrition. Turbo Jam offers five different videos. The five different videos are a mixture of dance moves, cardio and kickboxing. They are Learn & Burn, Turbo Sculpt, 20 Minute Workout, Cardio Party and Ab Jam. The five DVD series is $72.80 from the Turbo Jam website. It also includes a meal plan and a pair of "sculpting gloves," which are supposed to maximize muscle activity.
The basics of the Turbo Jam program are excellent: exercise and healthy eating. This program is a breath of fresh air in an industry of pill pushers and scam artists. The marketing and promises are a bit over-the-top though. "10 Pounds, 10 inches in 10 days!" After only 20 minutes a day? Exercise videos and gym workouts are a good start, but eventually consider more interesting pursuits such as running, cycling, hiking, tennis, climbing, etc... these are the types of activities that sustain themselves in the long term. Pick a basic food plan or one of the online programs for structure and support, add exercise and you'll have all the ingredients of the best possible option.
