The Warrior Diet by Ori Hofmekler is one of the more unique entries into the diet book publishing world. It's central concept is to eat one large meal per day and fast intermitently. Our ancestors consumed food much less frequently than we do today and often had to subsist on one meal per day, therfore humans have adapted to intermittent eating rather than constant, regular patterns. The main principles are:
1. Eat one meal per day at night- Humans are nocturnal eaters, inherently programmed for undereating and working during the day, followed by binging and sedentary behaviour at night.
2. Eat foods from the bottom of the food chain. We're better adapted to pre-agricultural food such as organic fruits, vegetables, roots, sprouted legumes, nuts, seeds, eggs and seafood..
3. Exercise while undereating. We have inherited survival instincts and mechanisms that compensate while enduring physical or nutritional stress. You will become stronger when exercising while your body is at its weaker state.
These strategies probably work good for losing weight temporarily, but that's not really the problem with weight loss; it's keeping the weight off. Clearly, this is a lifestyle regimen that is going be very hard to follow in the long term. If your strategies are not sustainable, there's little point in subjecting yourself to another go-around on the diet roller coaster.
