Wu-Long Diet Tea Review
Wu-Long Tea (Oolong) has become popular as a diet supplement and weight loss aid. Its proponents claim it aids in burning fat and suppressing appetite in a similar, but more effective manner than green tea.
It is said that Wu-Long tea was first produced in the Fujian Province in China 400 years ago during the Ming Dynasty. As the legend goes... a man named Wu Liang went home after he had picked several pounds of mountain tea and killed a deer. As he was busy killing the deer, he did not have time to dry the green tea leaves. The next day, he discovered the tea leaves had fermented in the basket where he had stored them overnight. He fried the tea and to his surprise, the tea was mild and quite good.
Wu Liang taught the other villagers how to make the tea and the fermented tea soon became popular with most everyone. They named it Wu Liang tea. In the south Fujian dialect of Chinese, liang and long are the same words. By later generations, the tea was called Wu-Long in China and Oolong in foreign countries.
Proponents claim the tea burns 157 percent more calories than Green Tea, reducing the fattening effects of carbohydrates, as well as reducing saturated fat absorption. They claim drinking the tea 15 minutes before eating carbohydrates will lower the amount of insulin your body produces. In addition, they claim drinking Wu-Long tea makes your skin look younger, your teeth healthier, and strengthens your immune system.
Commentary: I could get into the active ingredients and procedure for producing the tea, but my common sense is forcing me to get to my opinion sooner than later. We all know why we're overweight: we eat too much of the wrong things and don't do enough exercise. Wu-Long tea might "assist" in losing a few pounds temporarily, but long-term weight loss is going to come from being honest with yourself and making permanent lifestyle changes that will make you lose weight and feel better.
